In 1910, ‘Hall-Scott’ began manufacturing aircraft engines for commercial and military aviation use.
These engines possessed a remarkable power-to-weight ratio for their era, using overhead valves, hemispherical combustion chamber, and extensive use of aluminium.
Their various engine types shared parts and dimensions, reducing cost.
Hall helped Jesse G. Vincent of Packard design the famous Liberty airplane engine.
Around 1921, Hall-Scott dropped its aero engine product lines.
If anyone is aware of a local aircraft that was powered by this engine type here in NZ, John would really appreciate the information and can be contacted at johnskene66@gmail.com or his website https://aviation-tales.com
