Description:

Etorre Bugatti is regarded as one of the greatest makers of racing, sporting and touring cars.  From 1909 till his death in 1947 he produced a succession of beautifully designed and engineered vehicles ranging from the small 4 cylinder Type Ten up to the massive 16 cyl racer.

This Exhibit a Type 57c was both beautiful and powerful and provided cash-flow for the Bugatti Company during a difficult economic time in history. It was introduced in 1934 and quickly grew a reputation for low noise and vibration from the engine. There were three-body styles offered and their names were in honour of the Alps mountain peaks, the Galibier, Stelvio and Ventoux.

This Car is fitted with a Ventoux body style which has seating for four and two doors. Its design, such as raked windshield, was borrowed heavily from the Type 50. All of the Ventoux body styles were created in-house, by Jean Bugatti.

This is a fine example of Bugatti craftsmanship as it has an original Gangloff body which was restored by  Mr John Southward.
