Additional information (and noted photos) kindly provided by John Skene
An early radio-controlled model and beautifully made.
Displayed here is the ‘Avian’ built by Alan Vause in 1938 and is said to be "New Zealand's first radio-controlled model aircraft". It is powered by a ‘vintage’ NZ Acme .99 engine.
It appears to be a single channel, rudder-only system and have an approx. wingspan of about 2 metres.
I thought this model might be of interest and would appreciate any additional information on this ‘historic’ design.
