To mark the 50th anniversary of Can-Am racing, McLaren Special Operations created the 2016 McLaren 650S Can-Am Spider - a limited edition of just 50 cars worldwide. Inspired by the dominant McLaren Can-Am racers of the 1960s, this supercar blends modern performance with historic motorsport heritage.

At its heart is a compact, lightweight 3.8-litre twin-turbocharged V8 producing 641 bhp (650 PS) and 678 Nm of torque, paired with a 7-speed seamless-shift gearbox. The result is breathtaking speed: 0–100 km/h in 3.0 seconds, 0-200 km/h in just 8.6 seconds, and a top speed of 329 km/h. Carbon-ceramic brakes and an active carbon-fibre Airbrake ensure equally dramatic stopping power and stability at speed.

Unique Can-Am styling cues set this Spider apart, including a retractable carbon-fibre roof, MSO-designed forged alloy wheels, and extensive use of lightweight carbon throughout the bodywork. Buyers could choose from three exclusive finishes - Mars Red, Papaya Spark, and Onyx Black - each a nod to classic McLaren racing liveries.

Inside, the cabin is trimmed in Nappa leather and Alcantara with Can-Am badging, carbon-fibre detailing, and modern comforts such as a Meridian audio system. With its blend of rarity, performance, and motorsport DNA, the 650S Can-Am Spider is both a collector’s item and a driver’s dream.
