Description:

The Lancer range joined the Mitsubishi range in 1973, The Lancer Evolution (colloquially known as the "Evo") was launched in 1992 and was initially based on the Mitsubishi Lancer sedan. Evolution models prior to version V were the officially approved (homologation) model for Mitsubishi's efforts in the World Rally Championship's Group A class and SCCA Pro Rally Championship.

In order to follow these rules, the Evolution is based on the same platform as the Lancer compact car, but is much more powerful and the only part in common between the Evo and the Lancer is the basic frame. Ten street versions of the Evolution have been produced from 1993 up to today. Evo VI, VII and VIII did not need to meet WRC homologation requirements.

Mitsubishi unleashed this special edition Evo 6 in the latter-half of 1999 to celebrate its favourite son Tommai Makinen’s four consecutive WRC drivers’ titles from 1996-1999  the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VI Tommi Makinen Edition.

Widely regarded as the finest Lancer to wear the Evolution badge, it came in five colours red, black, blue, white and silver. A red/black Tommi Makinen-embossed interior and 17-inch white Enkei wheels and a revised aero kit completed the package.

Because of its low manufacturer number there is no Mitsubishi Evolution that is more prized than the Tommi Makinen Edition.
